Shetland Youth Dance Company offers talented young dancers the opportunity to develop and refine their contemporary dance technique and choreography skills. There will be performance opportunities throughout the year as well as the opportunity to work with local and visiting choreographers.
Sessions will be Mondays 17.30-18.45 with intensives happening during holidays or weekends throughout the year.
This course will follow SQA framework ensuring transferable skills that can prepare young dancers for a career in the performing arts industries.
These sessions are aimed at those with dance experience and/or a commitment to learning.
Term 2: Monday 11th, 18th, 25th Nov and Monday 2nd, 9th, 16th Dec 2019. This term, we’ll be working towards a winter showcase, with sessions focussed on development and technique, in addition to devising or choreographing for performance.
Throughout the year, we work with visiting Directors and dance companies to share skills and create new work. In Term 3, we will be collaborating with dancer Solène Weinachter and Scottish Dance Theatre to create a piece in the round as an opener to a very special performance.
