Shetland Youth Theatre Company is Shetland Youth Theatre reborn with a twist. Not only will we still be offering opportunity to be involved in the Summer productions and projects with local and visiting Directors, we will also be meeting weekly to develop and refine our acting skills, allowing for progression and development for all involved. This group will allow participants to have an understanding of theatre practice as well as developing a range of appropriate skills in voice, movement, acting, acting for camera and stagecraft. Participants will get an opportunity to be part of the creative process with performances throughout the year.
Sessions are booked in one block and will be on Wednesdays 1730-18458th, 15th, 29th Jan 5, 12, 19, 26 Feb 4, 11, 18, 25 March 2020as well as intensives and production times during weekends or holidays.
This course will follow SQA framework ensuring transferable skills that can prepare young actors for a career in the performing arts industries.
These sessions are aimed at those with drama experience and/or a commitment to learning. The aim of this group is to provide regular development alongside intensive sessions to make new works from visiting directors.
These sessions are led by Director and Theatre facilitator, Stephenie Pagulayan who has a vast amount of theatre and participatory experience.

Introduction to Stagecraft including:
Stance, Posture and Physicality
Positioning and Proxemics
Term 2 - Winter 2019/2020
Introduction to acting and performance theories in practice
Preparing and performing monologues
(Including informal sharing)
Term 3 - Spring 2020
Applying theatre techniques to scene work as an actor and a director using a chosen play for exploration.
Term 4 - Summer 2021
Devising Theatre: Students collaborating to create a new devised theatre piece around a central theme.
(Including final performance and potential of filming piece for screenplay festival)
