Sat 2 Jul 2022, 3.00pm - 4.30pm

Coinciding with Shetland Pride 2022, The World of Fancy Boy is an exhibition of outfits, illustrations and inspirations from costume designer Fancy Boy.  It’s both a celebration of Shetland's design talent and LGBTQ+ identity and culture.

Join Harry in person to make a wearable Fancy Patch similar to that seen adorning Krystal Versace’s coat dress on Rupaul’s Drag Race UK. Using sequin fabric, crystals, sequin trim and ostrich feathers you’ll make your very own wearable artwork under Harry’s supervision. He’ll tell you all about life working for the biggest queens in the business and give tips for anyone wanting to work in the costume industry.

The workshop is aimed at (but not exclusively for) queer and queer-adjacent teens or anyone with an eye for drag glamour (recommended 12+).

Fancy Boy is the alter ego of Harry Whitham, a born and raised Shetlander. After studying Design for Stage at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London he worked his way through London’s theatres, first as a dresser, wardrobe assistant then sewist and maker. He designs and makes bespoke costumes for some of the UK’s best loved drag queens and his work features regularly on Ru Paul’s Drag Race (BBC).
