Keira Knightley is captivating in this stirring biopic.

After marrying Willy, a Parisian writer, Colette is transplanted from her childhood home in rural France to the intellectual and artistic splendour of Paris. When Willy convinces Colette to ghostwrite for him, she pens a semi-autobiographical novel about a witty and brazen country girl named Claudine, which becomes a bestseller and a cultural sensation. Colette must defy gender roles in the subsequent fight over the creative ownership of Claudine.
