Writer/director Barry Jenkins follows up the Oscar-winning Moonlight with another intimate, expertly-crafted drama detailing the joy and pain of African-American life.
A heartbreaking romance based on James Baldwin’s novel, If Beale Street Could Talk centres on Tish and Fonny, a young couple in 70s Harlem who are very much in love. But Fonny is falsely accused of a crime, and as he awaits trial pressures begin to mount on their relationship.
