Actor Paul Dano's directorial debut is an evocative drama starring Carey Mulligan and Jake Gyllenhaal.

In a small town in 1960s Montana, fourteen-year-old Joe experiences the breakdown of his parents' marriage and his mother's struggle to keep their lives afloat, after his father, having lost his job, decides to leave his family to help fight a forest fire close to the Canadian border.
